Israel and Iran have achieved a “complete and total ceasefire” agreement, according to US President Donald Trump, thereby ending what he referred to as the “12-Day War,”.
Iran has, however, categorically denied the US President’s assertions and stated that no ceasefire agreement has been reached. Trump stated in a post on Truth Social, “Congratulations to everyone! It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a complete and total ceasefire.”
The ceasefire will start in about six hours, Trump said, once both nations have finished their “final missions.” Israel will implement the ceasefire 12 hours after Iran does. After a day, the war will be formally declared over.
Trump said, “The official end to the 12-day war will be saluted by the world.” He emphasised that “during each ceasefire, the other side will remain peaceful and respectful.”
Trump even congratulated both countries, by saying, “On the assumption that everything works as it should, which it will, I would like to congratulate both Countries, Israel and Iran.”
For their “stamina, courage, and intelligence” in bringing the conflict to a close, the US President commended Iran and Israel. He stated: “This is a war that could have gone on for years, and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn’t, and never will!”
“God bless Israel, God bless Iran, God bless the Middle East, God bless the United States of America, and GOD BLESS THE WORLD!” he added.
Minutes after both sides threatened further assaults, Trump announced a ceasefire. This follows missile strikes by Iran on US military installations in Iran and Qatar.
The response was described by President Donald Trump as “very weak” and “expected.” Trump acknowledged in a statement on Truth Social that Iran had fired 14 missiles in response to what he described as the US and its allies’ “obligation” of Iranian nuclear facilities. Thirteen of those were intercepted, while one was deemed non-threatening and allowed to continue.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader of Iran, had denounced US intervention in the area. He shared a picture of a burning American flag on a pole with the following caption: “We didn’t harm anyone. And we will not accept any harassment from anyone under any circumstances. And we will not submit to anyone’s harassment. This is the logic of the Iranian nation.”
