MTV VMAs 2024: Taylor Swift Wins Video of the Year at VMAs

Taylor Swift has once again dominated the MTV Video Music Awards, Swift has become the most decorated solo artist at the VMAs. Taylor Swift wins the Video of the Year award for her song Fortnight 2024 MTV Video Music Awards on Wednesday night in New York.

Swift was the most nominated artist at the start of the evening and ended the awards show by surpassing Beyonce’s record set as a solo artist, winning the 30th VMAs. Beyonce has won her 25th VMAs as a solo artist, two with Jay-Z as the carters, and two with Destiny’s Child.

Accepting the first of seven wins of the Wednesday evening, the 34-year-old singer opened the evening by acknowledging the anniversary of 9/11. 

Taylor Swift said that while waking up this morning in New York on September 11th, she had been thinking about what happened 23 years ago. Everyone who lost their loved ones and everyone that they had lost and that would be the most important thing for that day. She also added that everything that would happen that night would fall behind that.

Megan Thee Stallion p[resided over the ceremony and the ceremony was held at Long Islands UBS Arena, which makes 40 years of VMAs. At first, the host honored the past VMAs moments including  Britney Spears’, Hiss, and Mamusi with Japanese rapper Yuki Chiba.

Eminem opened the show with an army of Slim Shady doppelgangers and this 2024 VMA was his 2000 VMA performance. The 2024 VMAs Award Show belonged to women, with an international cast of female artists dominating the airtime.

Ascendant Star Sabrina Carpenter sang Please Please Please from a glittery swing, kissed an alien for Taste, and made fun of a squad of astronauts as she performed Espresso won song of the year.

While accepting the first-ever VMA, Carpenter said that this was special to her. She just felt so grateful to have the truly best fans in the world. She also thanked the Espresso.

The resident rapper of Blackpink, Lisa, won the best K-pop for her solo song Rockstar. The Brazilian artist Anitta won the best Latin for Mil Veces. 

For the seventh consecutive year, a woman won the Night Lifetime Achievement Prize, and this year, it goes to Katy Perry. Actor Orlando Bloom, Katy’s husband, introduced her onstage before she performed a medley of her biggest hits.
