The 2025 UEFA Women’s Championship kicks off this week, with Group A play starting with hosts Switzerland playing on the first day of the competition. An up-and-coming Icelandic team plays Finland in the first game at Arena Thun in Thun, before the hosts step in.
Switzerland, which has been getting better before the competition, will play their first match in Basel’s St. Jakobs-Park against Norway, the two-time European champions. Who advances to the knockout stages this summer is up in the air in what is undoubtedly the weakest group of the 16-team competition.
Women’s Euro 2025 betting advice and forecasts for today
Iceland to defeat Finland (5/6, Paddy Power). Iceland enters the tournament having just finished second in their group’s qualification, behind a formidable German team, but they did well to defeat Austria and Poland.

Although they had to rely on home advantage, Finland, who are presently rated 26th in the world by FIFA, advanced to the tournament following a play-off campaign in which they defeated Scotland and Montenegro. Iceland will be sure to start with a win in a neutral environment.
Both Teams Will Score in Switzerland vs. Norway (4/5, Paddy Power). Switzerland will be under pressure to defeat the Norwegians right away because they are the hosts, and they do have some talented players on the team.
A fun start in Basel would seem to be the best course of action for this one, as the Swiss start their campaign against a Norway team that is no longer as dominant as they once were, but is still the most likely to win Group A and still has several stars.
