Lim Eun-Jung pledges to end the prosecution era as the ‘funeral director’

Lim Eun-Jung, the new chief of the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors’ Office, said that she would play the role of a ‘philosopher’ who ends an era of prosecution. As she arrived at her office, she stated on the 6th that she would attain the role of a ‘funeral director’ and conclude an era of prosecution.

Prosecutor Lim made these statements while sharing her thoughts on her first day at the office on Facebook that afternoon.

She said that she appeared as a witness for the fact-finding inquiry group that was launched because of Prosecutor Seo Ji-Hyun’s Me Too movement in 2018’s February. She added that if things had been properly corrected at that time, the wave of prosecutorial reform would not have affected them so badly.

She continued saying that she wanted to be a doctor who fixes the prosecution, but she had long thought that, and with her restricted capabilities, she would become a funeral director who monitors the prosecution’s funeral.

Prosecutor Lim continued, saying that she believes that concluding one era opens the door to a new era. So, she sees the role of a funeral director as a massive responsibility, and she is well-prepared to handle the responsibilities.

She expressed that the prosecutors at the Eastern District Office had agreed to file a class-action lawsuit against the prosecution’s upper-level management. She added that despite the pressure from the Prosecutor General’s Office, such as personnel disadvantages were ultimately suppressed. 

Prosecutor Lim said, “I thought that with the DNA of resolve, it might be possible here (at the Eastern District Office)”.
