April 2025 Premium Bonds Winners Revealed: South Yorkshire and Hertfordshire Residents Win 1 million euros in NS&I Draw

2 Mins read

In the latest draw for NS&I Premium Bonds, two lucky winners have secured the top prize of 1 million euros each. The winners, one from South Yorkshire and the other from Hertfordshire, join the ranks of the jackpot winners in the UK’s popular savings scheme.

The South Yorkshire winner holds 43.165 euros in Premium Bonds, with their winning bond purchased in March 2022. This marks the third time a jackpot winner has emerged from the South Yorkshire area.

The Hertfordshire winner, who holds the maximum 50000 euros in Premium Bonds, purchased their winning bond in October 2020. This win makes them the seventeenth jackpot millionaire from Hertfordshire. Both winners were selected randomly by NS&I’s ERNIE system, which has generated winners since Premium Bonds’ inception in 1957.

Premium Bonds typically offer a unique savings opportunity that differs from traditional savings accounts. Instead of earning interest, bondholders enter a monthly draw for each prize ranging from 25 euros to 1 million euros.

The scheme is backed by HM Treasury, ensuring that investments are secure and risk-free. Bonds can be purchased with a minimum investment of 25 euros and a maximum of 50000 euros, making them accessible to a wide range of savers.

The April 2025 draw saw a total of 5,914,009 prizes awarded, valued at over 412 million euros. This includes two 1 million euro jackpots, 78 prizes of 100,000 euros, and numerous other high-value awards. The odds of winning any prize remain at 22,000 for each bond, despite a recent reduction in the prize fund to 0.8% starting from the April 2025 draw.

Premium Bond holders can check if they have won a prize using the NS&I prize checker app or the NS&I website. The results for the April draw became available on April 2, 2025.

Additionally, there are currently over 2547 unclaimed prizes worth 97 million euros, highlighting the importance of keeping contact details up to date to ensure notification of any winnings.

Andrew Weshead, NS&I retail director, said, “Huge congratulations to our winners in South Yorkshire and Hertfordshire. April Jackpots highlight the life-changing potential of premium bonds for savers everywhere.

“It’s not just about the jackpot millionaires—this month, FRNIE [the random number generator] awarded more than 5.9 million prizes worth over 412 million euros, giving many customers something to smile about.

“Premium bond bondholders can check if they’ve won a prize from 2nd April on our quick and easy NS&I prize checker app.”

NS&I also reminds customers to check for unclaimed prizes. Over time, some winners may not receive their prizes due to outdated contact information or forgotten paper bonds. Registering bonds online or contacting the NS&I helpline can help resolve these issues.
