2 Mins read

British rapper and YouTuber, Yung Filly entered a not guilty plea to several charges of sexual assault in Western Australia. The internet celebrity appeared in court on Tuesday before the Perth Magistrates’ Court. He pleaded not guilty to four counts of sexual intercourse without consent, one count of strangling, and three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, court papers said.

The internet star, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, is accused of assaulting a twentysomething woman in a Perth hotel room last September. The 29-year-old was arrested and charged with eight counts of assault, rape, and strangulation after he was taken into custody in Brisbane and deported back to Perth on October 9.

He pleaded not guilty to three charges of assault, one offence of strangling, and four counts of sexual penetration without consent on Tuesday, March 11, after informing the magistrate that he read the allegations.

Before he was to board a black Mercedes van waiting to take him away, Mr. Barrientos greeted journalists outside court and commented on the “lovely” weather, News.com.au reported. He will appear before the state’s Supreme District Court on June 13.

During his initial court hearing in October, Mr. Barrientos was released on bail with strict conditions, including a personal undertaking of AU$100,000 (£52,000) and an equivalent surety.

Yung Filly was born in Cali, Colombia, and moved to the UK with his family as a young boy. Raised in southeast London, he became interested in the local grime scene.

He became famous when he began releasing songs online in 2017 and gained a large following through his YouTube channel.

Some of his most notable collaborations are “Day to Day” with grime warhorse Chip and “Grey,” which were launched last year and featured Brit Award-winning artist Aitch.

Mr. Barrientos has featured on several television shows, including the BBC’s Hot Property and Channel 4’s The Great Celebrity Bake Off in 2022.

Apart from that, he has represented England, taken part in Soccer Aid, and featured in a Freeze the Fear spin-off alongside Wim Hof. He and fellow online star Chunkz, real name Amin Mohamed, were joint winners of the 2021 Mobo Awards’ Best Media Personality award.

He was arrested driving at more than 96 mph along the Roe Highway in the Perth suburb of High Wycombe on November 17, 2024, and pleaded guilty on December 5, 2024, to a charge of reckless driving.

He is to appear before the superior district court on June 13. Following a performance at a club in a Perth suburb, the 29-year-old is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in her 20s in his hotel room. He has been free on bail since last October.

As reported, the attack occurred on September 28, during Barrientos’ tour. During an October court hearing, Barrientos was granted bail with strict conditions, including a personal undertaking of 100,000 Australian dollars (£52,000) and a matching surety.

On Dec. 5, Barrientos pleaded guilty to a careless driving charge, court records show. On Nov. 17, he was stopped speeding at 96 mph on the Roe Highway.
