Philadelphia Eagles vs Atlanta Falcons Match Highlights: Kirk Cousins Lead Last-Minute Comeback win in Philadelphia

2 Mins read

Philadelphia Eagles took on the Atlanta Falcons for their first home game of the season and it was Saquon Barkley’s debut in front of his new adorning supporters. The Atlanta Falcons earned their first win of the season in the hard-fought match in Philadelphia.

Atlanta Falcons came from behind to win a 22-21 Monday Night Football thriller over the Eagles. In the fourth quarter, Falcons were down by six points with 1:39 left and Kirk Cousins brought about a game-winning 70-yard touchdown drive.

Wide receiver Drake London caught the game-winning TD that left the Philadelphia crowd stunned.

The Philadelphia Eagles have a final opportunity to retake the lead late in the fourth quarter. However, Jalen Hurts’ long pass intended for wide receiver, DeVonta Smith was intercepted by Falcons safety Jessie Bates that sealed the ball game.

The back-and-forth game had six lead changes. Kirk Cousins led a late-game touchdown drive as the Falcons Stunned the Eagles on Monday Night Football.

The Atlanta Falcons trailed by six with no timeouts and 1:39 remaining, yet drove 70 yards in six plays in just 65 seconds for the winning score.

Saquon Barkley dropped a crucial pass that would have sealed the game for the Eagles and offered them a first down on the previous drive. However, the Eagles were forced to settle for a field goal.

Jalen Hurts threw an interception at the end of the game and that sealed the win for Atlanta.

Drake London said of the game-winning play after the game on ESPN that sometimes the easiest ones are the hardest ones. He also added that once he made his move and he was open, he just caught the ball and secured that.

The panicky finish came after a throwback game. Both the teams were very comfortable with their rushing attacks before Atlanta opened things up on its last touchdown drive.

Philadelphia Eagles ran for 186 yards on 37 carries, on the other hand, the Falcons ran for 152 yards on 28 rushing attempts. The Eagles were supposed to control the clock and be in position to ice the game late in the fourth.

Barkley said to the reporters after the game, “I dropped the ball”, and “I let my team down today”.

Kirk Cousins ended the game completing 20 of 29 passes for 241 yards and two scores. Jalen Hurts also ran for 85 yards and a score.

Philadelphia fell to 1-1 with the loss and will face the New Orleans Saints and their potent offence in week 3.

Atlanta improved to 1-1 with the win. The Falcons will play against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football.
