Jasprit Bumrah and medical personnel departed the Sydney Cricket Ground. His reason for leaving the pitch is unknown.
Before leaving the field following the lunch break, Bumrah bowled just one over. He is in charge of Team India in the current Test match. While Virat Kohli took over as captain of India, he was brought to the neighboring hospital for scans.
On the second day of the fifth and final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the SCG in Sydney, India’s substitute captain Jasprit Bumrah got off the pitch due to a niggle, and Virat Kohli assumed the role of captain.
The World’s No. 1 fast bowler has left the pitch with the Indian team doctor for scans, although HT can vouch for the fact that the severity and form of Bumrah’s injuries are yet unknown.
Images that were broadcast on Star Sports showed Bumrah leaving the ground in a car while wearing the training outfit and being driven to the city hospital nearby.
On Saturday, Bumrah first left the pitch at lunchtime, but he returned to bowl one over after the break. However, he once more exited the pitch. Abhimanyu Easwaran, a substitute fielder, took his spot on the pitch.
At Saturday’s stroke, Bumrah made his first appearance off the pitch. It is possible that Bumrah told Kohli about his discomfort while bowling during their brief conversation before he left the pitch. Kohli thereafter assumed responsibility for captaincy.
This Test and the series’ outcome may be significantly impacted by Bumrah’s injury. In addition to being India’s finest stroke bowler, he is also the captain for his Test match instead of normal captain Rohit Sharma, who opted to sit out the series final because of his dismal batting performance.
