Maura Higgins, newly-single “shares drunken kiss” with Danny Jones, I’m A Celeb co-star during the BRIT Awards afterparty

2 Mins read

At a BRIT Awards after-party on Saturday night, newly single Maura Higgins allegedly shared a “drunken kiss” with her married I’m A Celeb co-star Danny Jones. Pete Wicks was seen leaving the BRIT Awards afterparty last night with a stony countenance, only hours after he barely avoided running into his ex-girlfriend Maura Higgins.

The Only Way Is Essex Iothario and the Love Island turned I’m A Celeb celebrity ended their short romance in mid-February. Just before Christmas, their romance—which was based on a solid friendship—came to light when he appeared in pictures the Irish model shared from a hotel after she returned from a trip to the Australian jungle.

Pete showed up at the O2 Arena with his friend Olivia Attwood, another Love Island star, with whom he is reportedly launching a podcast. The documentary filmmaker had to reposition herself as she walked down the carpet because of her gorgeous black dress with the long train feature.

Maura had also dressed to impress, hiding her modesty with a translucent gown that featured beautifully arranged flower designs.

Pete was spotted leaving the Universal Music BRIT Awards After-Party at 180 Studios with Olivia and his best friend, Sam Thompson, who was recently single, after toasting the victors of the evening. He and his friends walked to a waiting taxi, looking stony-faced.

After competing on the show, Maura met Danny Jones, star of 2024’s King of the Jungle, McFly, and they were spotted travelling home together. According to reports, Maura wasn’t quite thrilled with Pete and Olivia’s bond.

A source subsequently clarified, though, saying: “Maura doesn’t have any problems with Olivia and will always try to say hi if they ever happen to be at the same parties or red carpet events.

Every time a quarrel or competitiveness was implied, Maura was always perplexed. While they are not involved in one other’s careers and are on separate paths, she naturally hopes that Olivia will reciprocate her regard. According to reports, Pete and Maura broke up on Valentine’s Day following a “few clashes”.

A source stated: “Maura and Pete have decided to call off their romance. There have been a few clashes, and it was eventually agreed they were better off as friends. Those closest to them know it’s been a very on and off relationship, which is why they were so resistant to go public in the first place. They remain close and share a deep connection.”

Maura gave Pete a hint about her romance while she was in the I’m A Celebrity jungle at the end of the previous year.

Asked if she was single, she said: “I am, but I was seeing someone before I came in. I’m not in a relationship.” Admitting she wasn’t sure if she was in love, she said it was “different” before adding: “but then, is it because we’ve known each other for a long time?”

Pete had also been candid about their friendship that developed into a romantic one, complimenting her on her “super intelligence.”

On Paul C Brunson’s podcast, Pete revealed: “Maura and I have known each other for a long time, I say a long time about six years. We have the same sense of humour, she is super intelligent, and I think you know that is sometimes something people don’t realise about Maura.

She is incredibly witty and we have always been there for each other for kind of the past six years at a distance where we have always been friends. We have always kind of been there for each other and whatever else.”
