Date of Ramadan 2025: Find out When Does Ramadan Start in Various Nations

2 Mins read

Muslims across the globe are expected to commence fasting during Ramadan at the same time Because of the same date of sighting the moon in 2025. Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated on March 31, 2025, and this special alignment is expected to commence on March 1, 2025, and continue till March 30, 2025.

This year, Muslims across the globe will see the crescent moon to mark the beginning of Ramadan on the same night because of an extraordinary alignment in the cosmos.

Depending on when the new moon is visible, Mecca will mark the first day of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan on Saturday, March 1, or Sunday, March 2.

This year, the Ramadan moon could be sighted earlier than Mecca in other countries, most notably in the Western Hemisphere. The Islamic lunar calendar, which begins with the sighting of the crescent moon, decides when Ramadan starts.

The start of the month is established by the evidence of moon sighters in Saudi Arabia and other countries with a majority of Muslims.

Yes, it is possible because the month of Shaban 1446 AH was observed on the same date in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan, Bahrain, Palestine, Oman, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Turkey, and Egypt, as well as in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Indonesia, Malaysia, France, and Germany.

The Gulf states typically spot the moon first, then South Asian nations a day later, and hence this year’s synchronisation is abnormal.

When Does Ramadan Begin?

Friday, February 28, 2025, which corresponds to 29 Sha’ban 1446 AH in the Islamic calendar, is when the Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia and worldwide moon sighting committees have requested Muslims to look for the crescent moon.

Ramadan 2025 will begin on Saturday, March 1, 2025, and conclude on Saturday, March 29, 2025, if the moon is sighted. The sacred month will start on Sunday, March 2, 2025, in case the moon is not sighted.

Eid al Fitr is expected to be celebrated in Saudi Arabia on Sunday, March 30, 2025, subject to the sighting of the moon.

United States and United Kingdom:

Local sightings of the moon will decide when Ramadan 2025 will start in the US and UK. Astronomical calculations indicate that Ramadan will commence in both nations on March 1, 2025.

United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman:

The Saudi Supreme Court has called on individuals to observe the crescent moon on February 28, 2025. Ramadan will begin the next day, March 1, 2025, if observed. The UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, and other Gulf nations will all follow the same process.

India, Pakistan, Bangladesh:

Ramadan 2025 will likely start on the same night across South Asia as the Gulf states. On 28th February 2025, India’s Markazi Chand Committee and similar entities in Pakistan and Bangladesh will look for the moon. If found, fasting begins on March 1, 2025.

Russia, Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand:

The sacred month is to begin on February 28, 2025, and extend through to the end of March in all these countries.

For Muslims everywhere, Ramadan remains a period of religious contemplation, commitment, and togetherness irrespective of the exact date.

The synchronized sighting of the moon this year is an indication of the unified belief of the Muslim community and their global unity, which is experienced during Ramadan.

Many countries with a majority of Muslims have a unique greeting in their tongues. Throughout the month, people frequently exchange greetings like “Ramadan Mubarak” and “Ramadan Kareem,” which wish the recipient a prosperous and fortunate month, respectively.
