Joe Biden diagnosed with aggressive form of prostate cancer

2 Mins read

The former US president, Joe Biden, has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, a statement from his office said on Sunday. According to the statement, the cancer has spread to his bones.

The prostate cancer diagnosis was made on Friday following his report regarding urinary symptoms. His report led the doctors to find a small nodule on his prostate gland. Biden and his family members are reviewing treatment options as the cancer is of a more aggressive form.

As the oldest-serving US president in history, he left his office in January. After the statement about Joe Biden’s health issues, a wave of heartfelt messages started to come. President Donald Trump wrote on his social media that he and First Lady Melania Trump were saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis. He also added that they extend their warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family. Referring to the Former First Lady Jill Biden, he said that they wish a fast and successful recovery for Biden.

The Former Vice-President, Kamala Harris, who worked under Biden, wrote on her X handle that she and her husband Doug Emhoff are keeping the Biden family in their prayer. Harris also wrote that Joe is a fighter and she knew he would face that challenges with the same strength, resilience, and optimism that had always defined his life and leadership.

The former US President, Barack Obama, who served as US President for 8 years with Biden as his deputy, said that he and his wife Michelle were thinking of the Biden family. He also added that nobody has done more to find breakthrough treatments for cancer in all its forms than Joe. Obama was certain that Biden would fight this challenge with his trademark resolve and grace.

The UK Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, said that he was very sorry to hear President Biden was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He has wished Biden, his wife, Jill, and the family the very best.

In Sunday’s statement, the official said that in the previous week, Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of prostate nodule following experiencing his urinary issues. The source also added that on Friday, Biden was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer.

Prostate cancer is a very common type of cancer affecting men, after skin cancer. According to the US CDC (Centres for Disease Control and Prevention),  13 out of 100 men have a chance to develop prostate cancer at some point in their lives. The CDC also says that age is a significant factor for prostate cancer.
